History of The Elan Group

The Elan Group was formed in 1986 when it's founding members, insurance industry veterans Ross Hays Jr. and Joe Mack Thaxton, recognized that a major gap existed in employer provided employee benefit plans. Thaxton and Hays determined that the cost of employee benefits had increased to the point where employers were unable to provide and pay for many of the benefits their employees expected. While employers would most likely continue to provide some form of Health Insurance many of the additional benefits available could well be beyond the reach of an employer's budget. They felt that the next logical step was the development of voluntary benefit planning. Insurance products available voluntarily to employees through payroll deductions, conveniently and with pricing and underwriting which takes advantage of the rules of large numbers which exists because the employer sponsors the plan. This has now developed into one of the fastest growing fields in the insurance industry.

The Elan Group is focused on three key principals, which make us unique.

1)	Communication
	The first principal is communication. This is key to assist both the employer and the employee to make the voluntary benefit selections that will benefit them the most. The Elan Group is thoroughly dedicated to communicating the benefits of the Elan benefit plan to each member of the employer's team. A commitment to a one on one interview with every employee enables the Elan Group to thoroughly explain every facet of the benefit program to each employee. The Elan Group's counselors are trained to help employees throughout the organization; from the CEO to the salary employee, to the newly hired hourly wage earner. Laptop and electronic enrollments insure employees get the correct information every time.

2)	Design and Negotiation
	Second is design and negotiation. The Elan Group designs its benefit packages to meet the needs of each client. This includes using a best of breed philosophy in tailoring which voluntary benefit may be needed to fill gaps in existing core benefit plans. It also can include negotiating savings in your existing core benefit group life, long term disability, short term disability and health plans, along with full electronic implementation of both core and voluntary benefits. The Elan Group enjoys strategic partnerships with our thirty (30) AM Best Superior rated (A+) insurance companies. This allows us to find the most competitive product pricing with the products that best fit the client's needs.

3)	Administration
	The third principal is administration. The Elan Group provides single source billing as an option to all of its clients. Single source-billing means many insurance company products and premiums can appear on one convenient bill. Not only does this allow a best of breed concept of products for employees to chose from, but also allows the employer a way to provide an Elan voluntary benefit plan with a minimal amount of administration or reconciliation on their part. The Elan Group will provide a single bill for the employer, and handle all of the premium remittance to multiple carriers for them. You deal with one entity, The Elan Group.

As a result of the success of these principals and the positive impact that has been provided to the client, the Elan Group has consistently expanded its operations. We are currently headquartered in Tampa. With additional offices in Gainesville, Orlando, and Pensacola. We conduct business across the U.S. The Elan Group's senior management consists of career insurance professionals, and has over 70 years of insurance industry experience between them.
