The Elan Group was formed in 1986 when its founding members, Ross Hays Jr. and Joe Mack Thaxton, recognized that a gap existed in employer provided insurance plans. Thaxton and Hays noticing the changes in the structure and/or costs of corporate benefits felt that the next logical step was the development of voluntary benefit planning. This has now developed into one of the fastest growing fields in the insurance industry. From there, The Elan Group has expanded into a full service insurance agency emphasizing employee benefits, HR solutions, and individual insurance needs.

The Elan Group is focused on three key principles, which we feel sets us apart from the pack. The first principle is communication. This is a key asset both for the employer and the employee to make the selections that will benefit them both. The Elan Group is thoroughly dedicated to communicating the benefits of the benefit plan to each member of the employer's team. A one-on-one interview with every employee enables the Elan Group to efficiently communicate every facet of the benefit program to each employee. The Elan Group's counselors are trained to help the employees throughout the organization; from the CEO to the salary employee, to the newly hired hourly wage earner. Our counselors are part of our in house enrollment team, we do not use outside enrollment companies.

Second is design. The Elan Group designs its benefit package to meet the needs of each client. This includes tailoring voluntary benefits to fill the gaps in your current benefits package, to implementing an entire benefits package. The Elan Group is currently contracted with approximately 30 AM Best Superior rated (A+) Insurance Companies. This allows us to find the product, or products, that best meets your needs.

The third principle is administration. The Elan Group provides single source billing as an option to all of its clients. This allows the employer to provide a benefit plan with a minimal amount of cost on their part. The Elan Group will provide a single bill for the employer, and handle all of the premium remittance to multiple carriers for them.

As a result of the success of these principles and the positive impact we have had on our clients, the Elan Group has consistently expanded its operations. We are headquartered in Tampa with additional offices throughout the state. We conduct business across the U.S. The Elan Group's senior management consists of career insurance professionals, and has over 70 years of insurance industry experience between them.
